We are proud to present this exceptionally rare duo of grand, mid-18th century fashion. We have acquired this pair from England, however the collection it was acquired from also held many French items of the same period.
First is a regal pannier court robe of sack-back style with the original petticoat, dating to the 1760's. Both pieces are fashioned from very luxurious silk brocade, in a palette of smooth delicately vivid apple-green with pink and red accents. It's lavishly trimmed in ruched silk with silk thread dress edging. The set is lined, and fastens with front buttons. It showcases an absolute master dressmaker's fine skill, with the voluminous and romantic "sack-back" and attention to detail by elaborately trimming all edges in the fine ruched silk. Such an amount of regal fabric as used in this ensemble, would have reflected extreme wealth and privilege- mostly held by aristocrats.
Second is gentleman's taffeta frock coat and silk waistcoat, for display purposes we found the similar greens to pair beautifully together, regardless of their few years of age difference. The coat is of striped silk taffeta, whilst the waistcoat is of ivory fine silk and features traditional floral embroidery and silk covered buttons. Both pieces are presented in lovely condition.

Is "exquisite" the right word to describe this creation? We believe yes, indeed. From a first glance, it's overtly distinct couture-quality can be noted. The sheer feeling of awe will strike when touching the fine silks, admiring the interior construction, listening to it's gentle rustling of petticoats, and getting lost in the detailed bead work.
Dating to the late-50s/early-60s, this ball gown was designed by Rhavis of London. Although this designer has very little noted reference today, in past we have owned another example from the same label, which bared the same fine details and distinctively feminine, couture-quality. During our past research we found references to the designer within British film credits for wardrobe design.
It's surface decoration features bead work and appliques, both of which were applied by hand. The gown is fashioned from layers of gossamer-fine silk, overlaid against internal layers of petticoats with intricate construction and hand finishing throughout. There is also a beautifully constructed internal corset.

An exquisite and rare set, from the original "golden age of couture" French high-fashion house, Maggy Rouff - Paris. The ensemble is comprised of a lavishly sequined chiffon overdress, abundantly decorated with iridescent small sequins, and large satin lapels with stitch detailing.

It's accompanied by the original silk satin under slip, which has horsehair along the interior of the hem to keep the delicately full shape. Perfect for an evening party, as the sequins will shine beautifully in the glowing ambiance. Presented in very good vintage condition, and original, free from alterations.
Garment Measurements: Bust 36inches, Waist 28inches (taken from the under slip, dress is a bit larger).
